JV finished their 3rd week of competition reaching the halfway point in their 2017 season. They improved their season match record to 11 wins and 5 losses with victories over Woodland, Cartersville, Woodstock, and Forsyth Central. The win over Woodstock on their home court was especially important since it avenged an earlier loss during Week 1. Coach Bruner and Coach Jim both commented that the Woodstock match “was the best the team has played so far this season”.
While still needing improvement in on-court communication and returning strong serves; the team improved its “serves in %” to a season best. The defensive effort was balanced by three players with multiple blocks led by Taylor Cullinan; and Kelsey Briant led in passing assists. The offense was also balanced with six players having multiple kills. Zoey Morris turned in another stellar job running the offense with some setting assistance from Hannah Speeney and Anne Marie Hiser.
Our next home matches are this Tuesday August 29th versus Holy Spirit Prep (5:00pm) and East Paulding (7:00pm).
